A Central Islip man pulled over Sunday for speeding and changing lanes without signaling on the Southern State Parkway in North Merrick faces a DWI charge, State Police said.

A trooper driving east on the parkway spotted a gray GMC sport utility vehicle speeding at about 89 mph and changing lanes erratically near Exit 24, Merrick Avenue, at about 3:35 a.m., according to a news release.

After making the traffic stop, the trooper reported "an odor of alcoholic beverage" from driver Anton Murria, 51. Murria also failed sobriety tests and was arrested, the release said.

Murria produced a breath analyzer sample of .16 percent, police said.

He is charged with DWI and several traffic violations.

Murria is scheduled to appear on Oct. 11 at First District Court in Hempstead.
