A West Babylon man was killed Wednesday morning when he apparently lost control of his car on a slippery road in Melville and crashed into a tree, Suffolk County police said.
Jean Xavier, 32, was driving west on Ruland Road at about 6:30 a.m. when his 1999 Nissan Maxima struck a tree, police said. Xavier was pronounced dead at the scene.
It appears a high rate of speed and the slick conditions contributed to the crash, police said.
