A Port Jefferson Station man was arrested on charges of menacing and resisting arrest after Sixth Precinct officers used a stun gun on him outside a Selden tanning salon early Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.

Christian Palma, 39, was treated and released from St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson after police used the stun gun to detain him at Tanfasia, 1070 Middle Country Rd., in Selden at about 12:30 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Palma is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of menacing and resisting arrest at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said Palma was "physically menacing" toward a female employee of the salon at about 10:44 p.m. The woman called police, but when they responded Palma had left the scene.

He returned at about 12:30 a.m., and police attempted to arrest him but he resisted, the spokeswoman said.

Palma was then stopped with the stun gun and taken to the hospital, the spokeswoman said.
