Cops: Suffolk police officer hurt in North Patchogue crash
A Suffolk County police officer was injured Sunday night when the officer's car was struck by another vehicle in North Patchogue, police said.
The unidentified male officer was sitting in a police car on the right shoulder of westbound Sunrise Service Road, east of Waverly Avenue, when another vehicle struck the officer's car, Suffolk Police said. Police received a 911 call reporting the accident about 7:11 p.m.
The officer, whose condition was not immediately known, was taken to a hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, who identity was not released, was also taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
