Cops: Suffolk police vehicle involved in Dix Hills crash

Authorities are investigating a crash Saturday morning involving a Suffolk County police sport utility vehicle and another SUV on Jericho Turnpike between Manor Road and Old Country Road in Dix Hills.
A marked police SUV was traveling east on Jericho Turnpike when it collided at 10:05 a.m. with a compact SUV that was exiting the Dix Hills Plaza, according to a police spokeswoman.
The police officer was treated and released from Huntington Hospital; the driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital.
Neither driver was identified by police, who also said there is no evidence of criminality at this time.
