Huntington Village got a scare Friday afternoon when an unattended backpack was found on a bench, Suffolk police said.

The suspicious package, reported to police about 12:07 p.m., shut down Prospect Street at Main Street for more than two hours, police said.

Emergency services police sent a robot to look inside and found it contained textbooks and other scholarly supplies, police said.

Police did not have immediate information on whether the backpack's owner was found.
