Cops: Teen crashes car into home's steps

Two teenage girls were hospitalized after the driver lost control of her car early Tuesday morning, crashing into a parked minivan before overturning onto the front steps of a house in North Amityville, Suffolk County police said.

The crash occurred at 2:55 a.m. on Great Neck Road, near North Somerset Road and East Somerset Road, police said.

Even though their car overturned, neither teen was seriously injured, authorities said.

Police said the vehicle did not crash into the home itself and no one inside was hurt.

Police said Na'Eema Holland, 18, of Amityville, was driving a gray Acura north on Great Neck Road when she lost control, struck the minivan and crashed into the steps.

Both Holland and her passenger, Bria Pitt, 18, also of Amityville, were able to crawl from the car, police said. Police said the minivan Holland hit then struck another parked vehicle.

Pitt was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with what police described as nonlife-threatening injuries. She was in stable condition, police said.

Holland was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage, where she was treated for abrasions caused by her seat belt, according to police.

Police said Holland did not know how she lost control of the vehicle, but said indications are that neither alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
