A teenage pedestrian crossing an Amagansett street was hit and killed by a taxi Saturday afternoon, according to police.

The crash happened as Jeffrey Ahn, 17, was crossing Old Stone Highway with friends at 12:56 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Southampton Hospital.

The 25-year-old cabbie, who was driving a 2004 Ford Van for Lindy's Taxi, was unhurt, according to the Town of East Hampton Police, which has jurisdiction over Amagansett.

Police did not say whether the cabbie would face charges, and a dispatcher answering the police line Saturday night said no one with the authority to speak about the crash was available.

Ahn's family could not be reached Saturday night.
