Cops: Teen on bicycle collides with car in Lindenhurst

A teenage bicyclist was seriously injured when he collided with a vehicle in Lindenhurst Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Joseph Calabrese, 16, of Lindenhurst, collided at 4:47 p.m. with a 2010 Volkswagen Routan at the intersection of West Hoffman and South Wellwood avenues, police said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
Calabrese was bicycling south on South Wellwood when he hit the westbound vehicle operated by Timothy O'Connell, 44, of Lindenhurst. O'Connell and three passengers inside that vehicle were not injured.
First Squad detectives asked that anyone who witnessed the crash call them at 631-854-8152, or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
