Cops: Two arrested in Hampton Bays robbery
A man and woman from Hampton Bays were arrested Sunday after they robbed a woman on a street in Hampton Bays at 2 a.m., police said.
The robbery occurred on Montauk Highway West, Southampton Town police said. Police said the victim, whose identity was not released, told officers the couple stole cash from her, then fled in a red Ford Explorer.
Officers said Corey Bourgard, 23, of South Valley Road, and Jessica Burghardt, 21, of Fanning Avenue, were arrested after a traffic stop by State Police and were each charged with one count of second-degree robbery and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The couple were stopped for speeding and then were arrested during that stop by Southampton Town officers.
Arraignment details were not immediately available.
