Two First Precinct police officers saved a man in cardiac arrest in North Amityville Thursday by using an automatic external defibrillator, Suffolk County police said.

Officers James Behrens and Anthony Wuria responded to an emergency call for a man having a seizure in a vehicle at Albany Avenue and Croydon Road at about 12:25 p.m., police said.

When they found the man they determined he was in cardiac arrest and administered two shocks from the AED, restoring the man's heartbeat, police said.

The man, 45, and not identified by police, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage where he was listed in serious condition.
