A West Babylon bank was robbed Thursday by a man who handed a teller a note demanding cash, Suffolk police said.

The teller at the HSBC bank branch, 85 Farmingdale Rd., handed the thief an unspecified amount of cash from a bank drawer about 3:45 p.m., police said. The suspect then left the bank, going east through the bank parking lot toward Little East Neck Road, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and with a medium build, police said.

He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with graphics on the front, dark plastic sunglasses and blue jeans, police said.

Detectives asked that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
