Cops: Woman, 56, dies in Mastic house fire

 A Mastic woman, 56, was killed in a house fire early Thursday morning, according to a police report.

Police said Anthony Vitagliano called 911 to report his house on Neptune Avenue was on fire at 12:30 a.m. When police and firefighters arrived, he said his wife, Laura, was still inside and he was unable to rescue her. She was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Homicide and arson detectives are investigating the incident, police said.
