Cops: Woman, 97, drove car into Waldbaum's
A 97-year-old woman drove a 1987 Oldsmobile through the front doors of a Waldbaum's supermarket in Deer Park Sunday afternoon, police said.
"She pulled out of her parking spot, accidentally pushed the gas and backed up through the doors," a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said. "Then she put the vehicle into drive, went too far forward and struck a fence."
There were no injuries in the 2:51 p.m. incident, police said.
Nobody answered the phone late Sunday afternoon at the Waldbaum's at 1960 Deer Park Ave.
