A Nesconset woman was arrested early Sunday after police said she sat in her running vehicle while intoxicated with her young twin daughters in the car.

Police said Danielle Ferrante, 31, was found at 1:40 a.m. in a 2006 Mitsubishi that was parked in a lot of a ShopRite, at 335 Rte. 347, in Hauppauge. The engine was running, and police said Ferrante was intoxicated and had her five-year-old twin daughters in the car with her.

Police arrested Ferrante and charged her with driving while intoxicated and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The girls were released to their father, police said.
