Cops: Woman drives high, hits gas pump
Police on Monday morning arrested a Lynbrook woman and charged her with driving in a gas station parking lot in Shirley while under the influence of drugs, with her two young children in the car.
Jennifer Drozdowicz, 37, had her sons, ages 4 and 5, in her 1999 Oldsmobile Alero as she drove at 8:15 a.m. in the Coastal Gas Station parking lot at 461 William Floyd Pkwy., Suffolk police said.
Her car hit and damaged a gas pump at the station, police said.
The children were not injured. They were released into the custody of family members, a Monday police news release said.
Seventh Squad detectives charged Drozdowicz, of 23 Stevenson St., Lynbrook, with driving while her ability was impaired by drugs; aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child -- a felony under Leandra's Law -- and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
She was to be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct, with arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
