A Jamaica woman stopped Tuesday on the Southern State Parkway in East Farmingdale for traffic violations faces a felony charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle because she was driving even though her license had been suspended 34 times, State Police said.

Troopers stopped Joan Gabay, 52, at about 8:54 p.m. as she drove west on the parkway near the Wellwood Avenue exit, police said in a Wednesday news release.

A check of her license revealed the previous suspensions, police said, and she was arrested.

She is charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without insurance and several other traffic violations.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
