Coram boy hit by vehicle father was driving, Suffolk cops say

A 10-year-old boy was struck and seriously injured on a Coram street by the vehicle his father was driving, Suffolk County police said.

The father was driving home when he saw the boy walking on the street with a sibling, a police spokeswoman said.

“He pulled over to talk to them,” she said, when the accident occurred.

Police said they responded to the scene on Judith Drive about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The circumstances are still being investigated, police said Wednesday.

“The child was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, where he and his family remain,” police said in a statement.

Police provided no other details.
