A motorcyclist and his passenger were struck on Sunday morning by a driver pulling her vehicle out of a gas station in Coram, a collision that threw the two off the motorcycle and injured all three people, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle being driven north on Route 112 was hit by a 2014 Honda that was coming out of the gas station, the police wrote in a news release.

The operator of the motorcycle, Melvin Rodriguez-Carvajl, 24, of Port Jefferson Station, and his passenger, Elianny Feliz-Rodriguez, 19, also of Port Jefferson Station, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, the release said. The driver of the other vehicle, Virginia Acosta, 47, of Coram was taken to the same hospital, with minor injuries, the release said.

Photographs from the scene show a white and red motorcycle and a black SUV.

The cause of the crash was not disclosed, but the release said the investigation was continuing.

None of the three could be reached for comment.
