A Coram man remains in critical condition after his car collided with a sport-utility vehicle making a left turn on Route 25 in Selden, Suffolk County police said.

Ivan Nunez, 27, of Harrison Court, was driving east on Route 25 at about 4 a.m. when his car collided with a Dodge Durango turning onto Blue Point Road, police said.

Nunez suffered internal injuries as well as skull and facial fractures, and was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, said Det. Sgt. James Madden of Suffolk police's Sixth Squad.

The Durango was driven by Carmen Serrano, 27, of Mooney Pond Road in Selden. Serrano had seven passengers - including five children - in the car, Madden said.

"They both had green lights going in their respective directions," he said. "Preliminarily, she would have to proceed safely before making a turn. And that's when the accident occurred."

Serrano was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license and four citations for improper seatbelt use, Madden said. An investigation was ongoing.
