A Coram man has been charged in the robbery of a Smithtown bank on April 1 while dressed as a woman, Suffolk police said.

Wesley Keene, 36, also faces criminal mischief and reckless driving charges for trying to evade arresting officers Friday and intentionally driving his car into a police vehicle, authorities said.

Further details were not immediately available. No injuries were reported.

Police said a teller at the TD Bank branch at 714 Nesconset Hwy. in Smithtown handed Keene "an undetermined amount of cash" after he displayed a note that demanded money and said he had a gun. The suspect fled in a light-colored vehicle, police said.

Arraignment is set for Sunday in First District Court in Central Islip.
