Cow Harbor Day Weekend festivities will descend on Northport, an annual symbol of the end of summer that draws thousands of people to the village each year.

The celebration, which runs through Sunday includes a parade, 10-kilometer race and a street festival with live music.

The Great Cow Harbor 10k race, which officials said will host 5,000 runners and twice as many spectators, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

After the race, Main Street will be closed to traffic for a street festival featuring vendors, music, family-friendly games and other activities, officials said.

The official Cow Harbor Day is Sunday, with a parade that kicks off at noon.
