State Route 347 in Hauppauge reopens after multi-vehicle crash, police say

A three-vehicle crash in Hauppauge sent three people, one with serious injuries, to the hospital on Saturday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. after police said a 45-year-old Brentwood woman attempted to make an illegal left turn from an eastbound lane of State Route 347 onto Route 111.
The woman's 2008 Acura struck a 2019 Toyota that was westbound on Route 347 and caused the Toyota to hit a 2020 Hyundai sedan in the right lane, according to police.
The driver of the Toyota and his female passenger, both 68-year-olds from Lake Grove, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said. The woman was treated for serious injuries.
Police said the driver of the Acura was treated for minor injuries and issued several summonses, including for making an improper turn. A 29-year-old driving the Hyundai was not injured, according to police.
Route 347 was shut down from Route 111 to Sequoia Drive — about a 1,100-foot stretch — for about five hours after the crash, which remains under investigation. The road reopened around 2:53 p.m., according to a police spokeswoman.
