Boy, 6, seriously hurt in two-car crash in Brentwood, police say
A 6-year-old boy was left in serious condition after a two-car crash in Brentwood on Thursday, authorities said.
The boy was in a 2011 Jeep Patriot traveling east on Express Drive South when it was struck by a 1999 Honda Odyssey going south on Washington Avenue about 3 p.m., police said.
The boy was taken to Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park and was in serious condition, police said.
The driver of the Jeep, Melanie Beemer, 35, of Coram, and the driver of the Honda, Wilber Lopez Gonzalez, 22, of Brentwood, were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said. They each suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
