A Center Moriches man was killed when his motorcycle struck a pickup truck at James Hawkins Road and Montauk Highway in Moriches on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said. Credit: Newsday/James Carbone

A Center Moriches motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Moriches on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Charles Carrano, 19, was driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle east on Montauk highway when he struck a 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck at the James Hawkins Road intersection at 12:42 p.m., police said in a news release.

Carrano was pronounced at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Ram, a 27-year-old man from Moriches, was not injured.

The crash scene is just west of Center Moriches High School and the Moriches Bypass.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives ask anyone with information on the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
