Two lanes of the eastbound Long Island Expressway were closed briefly before noon Wednesday when a car overturned near Exit 55 in Central Islip, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department said.

The car overturned after a two-vehicle crash, police said. No serious injuries were reported, but the left and center lanes were closed as one of the cars remained stalled in the middle of the expressway.

"We're just waiting for a tow truck so we can open up the two lanes," a spokesman said at around 11:55 a.m.

The department said it was unclear if the storm caused the accident.
