A 70-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after losing consciousness behind the wheel and causing a six-vehicle crash in Huntington Station on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

The woman, whose identity was being withheld pending notification of her family, was driving a 2012 Lexus RC350 east on West Pulaski Road near Oakwood Road at about 12:50 p.m. when she suffered a medical emergency, police said in a news release.

Her car first sideswiped a Nissan sedan before continuing into an occupied parked vehicle, police said. That set off a chain reaction, with the Nissan  striking two more parked vehicles and the Lexus continuing east into an another parked car, police said.

The driver of the Lexus was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to the release. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The Lexus was impounded for a safety check, police said. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
