Crash into Ronkonkoma LIRR train yard injures woman, police say

A 19-year-old woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition after she lost control of the car she was driving and crashed into a snowplow train in a Long Island Rail Road yard in Ronkonkoma early Friday, police said.
The identity of the woman was not disclosed.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority police said the crash occurred at 1:13 a.m.
According to police, the victim was driving a 2012 Kia Optima when it went out of control on Railroad Avenue near Knickerbocker Avenue, struck an embankment and became airborne — the four-door sedan crashed into the snowplow train and overturned. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The crash did not affect train service.
