Suffolk County police were investigating a Saturday night two-car crash in North Patchogue that critically injured a 2-month-old boy.

Deliela Gonzalez was driving a 2017 Honda sedan south in the right lane of North Ocean Avenue with her three daughters in the car as well as her son, the 2-month-old, when she attempted to make a U-turn about 7 p.m. A 2007 Mercedes-Benz also traveling south in the left lane struck the Honda causing both vehicles to slide along the roadway into the northbound shoulder.

The infant was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue and then to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Police did not release the child's name and there was no update on his condition Sunday morning.

Gonzalez, 33, of Copiague, and her daughters, ages 13, 8 and 4, were all taken to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of nonlife threatening injuries.

The Mercedes driver, Jeremy Layton, 33, of Islip Terrace was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
