A 34-year-old man was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Patchogue, Suffolk County police said.

The crash on Waverly Avenue near Gateway Boulevard occurred about 5:35 p.m., police said.

Erik Pedersen of Patchogue was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck south on Waverly Avenue while Nancy Kelly was driving a 2005 Volvo. Kelly struck Pedersen’s pickup while turning left onto Gateway Boulevard, police said.

Pedersen suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Kelly, 59, and her passenger Lawrence Kelly, 62, both of Bayport, also were treated at Stony Brook University Hospital. Their injuries were considered minor, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
