Crash shuts down Heckscher parkway near Route 27
Eastbound lanes of the Heckscher State Parkway are closed at Exit 43A in Islip Terrace because of a serious car crash, state police said late Tuesday night.
The crash happened about 10:15 p.m. just north of Sunrise Highway (Route 27), a State Police spokesman said. Traffic is being diverted off the parkway as police investigate the scene.
No information on injuries or the circumstances of the crash was immediately available.
