Crash slows Southern State traffic
An overturned car briefly closed two lanes of the westbound Southern State Parkway in West Babylon on Wednesday morning.
The New York State Department of Transportation website said the single-vehicle accident occurred at 8:08 a.m. and that it closed the left and center lanes between Exit 37, Belmont Avenue, and Exit 36.
Traffic cameras showed significant delays to morning rush-hour commuters in the area.
State Police said the accident was not serious and that the driver of the overturned vehicle was not seriously injured.
The wrecked vehicle was being cleared at 8:45 a.m. and police said traffic was expected to return to normal soon after.
