DA: Flanders man sexually abused children

A 53-year-old Flanders man is due back in court later this month after pleading not guilty to a five-count grand jury indictment charging that he sexually abused two children, the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Albert J. Carini pleaded not guilty in Suffolk County Court on Friday and was ordered held on $500,000 bond or $150,000 cash bail, according to court records. His next court appearance is Aug. 23.
The grand jury indictment charges Carini with first-degree and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The charges of course of sexual conduct allege that between mid-2011 and May, Carini engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a child younger than 11 years old.
A second victim, who the indictment charges was subjected to sexual contact, was younger than 14 years old when that contact occurred "in or about" November 2009.
The two victims were identified by initials only.
It was not immediately clear if Carini had an attorney.
