Smithtown Highway Superintendent Glenn Jorgensen is to appear in First District Court Wednesday morning in Central Islip to face charges brought by the Suffolk County district attorney's office, Jorgensen's attorney said.

Anthony M. La Pinta, Jorgensen's Hauppauge-based criminal defense attorney, said Tuesday night: "I am representing Mr. Jorgensen and we plan on being in First District Court tomorrow morning to answer charges that are being filed by the Suffolk district attorney."

The district attorney's spokesman Robert Clifford confirmed Jorgensen will appear in Room D-11 sometime after 11 a.m. Clifford declined to say why Jorgensen was directed to appear.

Room D-11 is a courtroom generally used for arraignments on criminal charges.

Calls to Jorgensen were not returned.

Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio said, "I have no comment on why he's going to First District Court."
