An East Moriches man who Suffolk prosecutors said raped, humiliated and terrorized a woman for nearly an hour in a Stony Brook house last month was indicted by a Suffolk grand jury Wednesday for rape and other charges.

Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, of 11 Beverly Lane, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, including raping a woman who prosecutors said was housesitting for a friend.

Assistant District Attorney James Chalifoux said O'Sullivan entered the house through an unlocked kitchen door about 11 p.m. on Nov. 20. He wore a mask and pointed a loaded .22-caliber Mossberg rifle at the woman, who was alone.

At one point during the attack, which lasted about 45 minutes, Chalifoux said O'Sullivan went from room to room and rummaged through intimate garments belonging to the female occupants of the house.

"At some point, he threw underwear at the victim and told her to put it on," Chalifoux said.

Once O'Sullivan left, the woman, whose hands were tied behind her back with duct tape, had to use her tongue to dial 911, according to Chalifoux.

Authorities said O'Sullivan and the woman are strangers. However, they said he targeted the house.

"He had some knowledge of the family that lived at that home," Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke said at the time of O'Sullivan's arrest.

The 10-count indictment against O'Sullivan included rape, predatory sexual assault, criminal use of a fire arm and burglary.

Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn rejected prosecutors' request that she set bail at $1 million cash and $5 million bond. The judge, instead, set bail at $250,000 cash and $1 million bond. As of Wednesday afternoon, O'Sullivan remained behind bars.
