Police using a canine search team were able to track a suspect from the scene of an armed robbery at a money transfer store in Riverhead to a nearby apartment complex before losing track of him Sunday.

Now, they're asking anyone with information on the suspect to call the Riverhead Town police tip line at 631-727-4500.

Police said the robbery occurred at Damaris Multiservice on East Main Street at about 4:30 p.m. The suspect entered, flashed a black handgun and fled with cash, police said.

Responding investigators recovered evidence from the crime scene, police said, and a canine unit tracked the suspect to nearby Long Island Rail Road tracks -- and then to an apartment complex not far from the scene.

However, the search team was unable to track the suspect further. No one was injured during the robbery.
