Riverhead man charged with rape, child endangerment

A Riverhead man faces charges of rape and endangering the welfare of a child, Town of Riverhead police said Tuesday.

Dani Ovidio Solorzan Garcia, 22, was arrested Monday after an investigation "into Garcia engaging in sexual acts with a female who was less than 17 years old," according to a news release.

Police did not specify the relationship between Garcia and the victim in the release and were not immediately available to comment.

He is charged with third-degree rape, third-degree performance of a criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Garcia was held overnight at the Riverhead Police Department. His arraignment information was not immediately available.
