An Oakdale man was in serious condition Saturday after he crashed his SUV into a tree and a farm stand Friday night on Montauk Highway in Oakdale, Suffolk County police said.
Daniel Farkas, 51, was driving a 2007 Lincoln sport utility vehicle westbound on Montauk Highway at 9:37 p.m. when he crossed into the eastbound lane, just west of Lincoln Drive, police said.
The vehicle struck a tree and a building that houses Clarks' Farmstand at 1405 Montauk Hwy., police said.
Farkas was removed from the SUV by members of the West Sayville Fire Department and was taken by Community Ambulance Company to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.
Law enforcement officials are investigating whether slick road conditions may have contributed to the crash. The SUV was impounded for a safety check.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
