Sheriff: Florida deputy performs Heimlich maneuver on choking Shirley woman

A sheriff's deputy came to the rescue of a Shirley woman early Tuesday, using a Heimlich maneuver on her in a Florida restaurant.
A Pinellas County sheriff's deputy was finishing his meal break at an International House of Pancakes restaurant in Clearwater when he noticed a woman wheezing at a nearby table.
Deputy David Brenn quickly sprang into action at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, asking Brianna Torres, 23, if she was choking. She nodded "yes" and Brenn radioed for assistance. He then started using the Heimlich maneuver to clear her airway.
According to a news release from the sheriff's office, on the third thrust, a piece of steak was dislodged from her throat.
Torres immediately started breathing normally. Paramedics checked Torres, who was otherwise uninjured.
On Sept. 2, Deputy Matthew Davidson performed the Heimlich maneuver on a convenience store employee who had a piece of chicken lodged in his throat.
