Hampton Bays man struck by Jeep has died, police say
A Hampton Bays man struck by a Jeep Tuesday evening as he walked along Montauk Highway near Springville Road in Hampton Bays has died of his injuries, police said Thursday.
Southampton Town Police identified the man as David Krouse, 63, and said he was struck by a 2014 Jeep Cherokee just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The driver remained at the scene and police said the collision has been reported as "noncriminal."
Police said that patrol officers, as well as a crew from Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance and a Suffolk County Police aviation unit, responded and that Krouse was transported via a medevac flight to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died.
