Deer Park barber facing charges
A Deer Park barbershop owner faces drug and counterfeiting charges after the First Precinct Crime Section found pirated CDs and DVDs in a raid of his shop Thursday, Suffolk County police said.
Lawrence Johnson, the owner of Razor's Edge at 207 Bay Shore Rd., was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated harassment, trademark counterfeiting and failure to disclose the origin of recordings, police said in a Friday news release.
Police said crack cocaine and DVDs and CDs of popular movie and music titles were found in the raid.
Police said they raided the barbershop Thursday after receiving several complaints from the community.
The Town of Babylon's Quality of Life Task Force and Community Oriented Police Enforcement officers also participated in the raid.
Police said the town building department also condemned the building, posting signs that prohibit entry.
Johnson, 31, of Deer Park was to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
