A Deer Park man stopped for speeding on the Southern State Parkway in Babylon Monday night faces drunken driving charges, State Police said.

Santos Santos-Velasquez, 27, of 81 Sammis Ave., was driving a gray Nissan minivan east on the parkway near Exit 39, Route 231, when he was pulled over about 11:51 p.m., police said.

During the interview, a trooper noticed that Santos-Velasquez smelled of alcohol, police said in a release. He produced a breath-analyzer reading of .09 percent, police said. The legal limit is .08.

Santos-Velasquez is charged with driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations. Arraignment information at First District Court in Central Islip was not immediately available.
