A Deer Park man with $3,000 worth of sparklers, firecrackers, roman candles and other fireworks was ticketed Wednesday for possessing the contraband at his home, Suffolk County police said.

Police say that the man, Joseph Ladona, 71, kept the fireworks in an outdoor shed at the home on Glenda Drive.

Ladona is to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date to answer the two counts of unlawfully dealing with fireworks and dangerous fireworks, police said.

Suffolk's Sgt. David O'Brien said the contraband fireworks would be destroyed.
