VOTING

7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Deer Park High School, 1 Falcon Place, Deer Park.

THE BUDGETThe district proposes a $107,329,141 budget for 2015-16, a 1.32 percent increase from the current $105,929,364. The local tax levy would rise 1.64 percent, from $66,524,186 to $67,613,571.

This increase is equal to the state's tax-cap limit of 1.64 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family home would increase an estimated 2.62 percent, from $9,812 to an estimated $10,069.

The proposed budget includes an increase of 2.25 percent for a contractual step increase for teachers. It adds six full-time teachers and two electives -- technology and art.
