The weather may be the least of your troubles if you're traveling by rail Friday.

Equipment trouble was causing delays on the Ronkonkoma branch of the Long Island Rail Road early Friday. The New York City Transit system is advising of continued subway problems on the No. 7 line, as well as new signal problems affecting the A and C trains -- all of which could put a damper on the commute into the city.

The railroad reports that an equipment problem caused the 6:54 a.m. train from Central Islip, due to arrive in Penn Station at 8:06 a.m., to run about 14 minutes late. That also affected the 6:56 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma, which was scheduled to arrive in Atlantic Terminal at 8:17 a.m., railroad officials said.

That train was running about 10 minutes late.

The 6:58 a.m. from Hempstead, due in Penn Station at 7:52 a.m., also was operating 12 minutes late because of an earlier equipment problem.

Meanwhile, service remains suspended on the No. 7 train between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42nd Street Friday because of signal problems at the Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue Station on the line.

That means all transfers at Woodside are out of the question Friday -- affecting riders who jump from the LIRR.

Subway riders can change to the N or Q trains at Queensboro Plaza and are advised not to attempt to transfer to the No. 7 train at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue, but to use the E, F, M and R lines instead.
