Dirt biker, passenger hurt in crash with truck in Mastic, cops say

Suffolk County police are investigating a crash between a dirt bike and a pickup truck that occurred in Mastic on Saturday night.

The crash occurred on Patchogue Avenue at about 8:15 p.m.

Erik Alvarez, 19, of Mastic, was turning left into a driveway from westbound Patchogue Avenue when his 2002 Chevy Avalanche collided with a dirt bike carrying John Colon, 18, of Mastic, and a 16-year-old female passenger.

Colon and the passenger, also of Mastic, were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Alvarez did not need medical attention, police said.

No charges were filed in this case, but the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
