Dix Hills man charged in bank robbery
A Dix Hills man was charged Tuesday in the October robbery of TD Bank in South Huntington, Suffolk police said.
James Sullivan IV, 21, had handed the teller a note demanding cash on Oct. 18 and threatened to use a gun, police said. He then fled on foot from the bank, which is on Jericho Turnpike, and went south on Dix Hills Road, police said.
Sullivan, of 81 Old Brook Rd., was being held overnight at the Seventh Precinct for arraignment Wednesday on third-degree robbery.
In October, Suffolk and Nassau police said they believed the man who robbed the South Huntington TD Bank was the same one who tried to rob a Chase branch in Plainview earlier that day.
At the time, police said surveillance photos from each bank showed the same man. He was at Chase about 4:20 p.m., but fled without getting any money, police said. About 8 miles away and 40 minutes later, TD Bank was robbed, police said.
Nassau police on Tuesday said they did not have any comment on the case.
