Missing Dix Hills woman, daughter, 2, located, Suffolk police say

A mother and daughter from Dix Hills who had been reported missing since Monday afternoon have been located unharmed, Suffolk County Police said in a news release Wednesday.
Police said that Kristin Moore, 41, and her 2-year-old daughter, Alyssa Scott-Moore, had not returned home after leaving for a doctor's appointment Monday around 4:30 p.m.
They were located at the home of an acquaintance in Bay Shore, police said.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives had sought the public’s help to locate the pair.
Police said Moore may have been driving a gray pickup truck, had previously lived in Bay Shore and has family in Ohio.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
