A Dix Hills woman died Tuesday after the car she was driving struck another car and then a short time later ran into a utility pole, police said.

Stella Gladkowski, 79, of 15 Landview Dr., was driving a 2000 Cadillac south on Deer Park Avenue in Dix Hills about 4:25 p.m. when the crash took place, police said.

Gladkowski struck the rear of a 2006 Hyundai stopped at a traffic light at DeForest Road, police said, and then continued westbound on to Vanderbilt Motor Parkway and hit a utility pole at Sandra Drive.

She was taken from there to Huntington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured, police said.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
