The North Babylon Fire Co. was called to a report of an accident after a driver, who said he swerved to avoid a raccoon in the road, crashed into another car on Seward Street in West Babylon. Both cars caught on fire on impact. (April 12, 2013) Credit: Paul Mazza

A driver who told police he swerved to avoid hitting a raccoon crashed into a parked car early Friday in West Babylon, setting both cars on fire, Suffolk County police said.

The identity of the driver, a man, was not released. Police said he was not injured -- and was not charged.

The crash happened at 1:30 a.m. on Seward Street.

The whereabouts of the raccoon were unknown.
